Greetings from Vietnam! We spent the day shopping - Mia already loves it! LOL
Tomorrow we're heading out for a morning cultural tour to see a couple of the key musuems in Hanoi with our favorite travel guide.
Hanoi Traveler Tip - hire a private tour thru the hotel for 1/2 day- we did this today and got a wonderful air conditioned car, driver and English speaking (sort of) guide who took us door to door to any shop we wanted. Basically, we told him the things we wanted to see or purchase and he had the driver drop us off at the store and wait. They even carried our packages. A convenient and great way to shop and see the sites with a baby! And, it was only $35.00 USD per person for the tour. For us it was worth it because we were led everywhere, they negotiated prices for us and it gave us options to keep the baby happy (once I stayed in the car with the driver to feed the baby while Melva shopped and vice versa). It was a wonderful morning!
We have our US Embassy appointment set for Wednesday at 2pm. After that, we should get her papers to travel home. We're hoping the papers come thru on Thursday and we're trying to get flights home for Friday. Horrible flight options (11 hour layover in LAX, arrival in Chicago at 5am). Like we really want to do this with a baby. After our 56 hours adventure to get here, we were sure hoping that the airline Gods would look down on us and give us better options for coming home - our agent is still working on it. We'll let folks know when things are set for our return. Either way, we should be stateside within a week.
A picture or two of our travels today...
